What retinol does to your skin?
Retinol smoothes wrinkles In the initial period of applying cosmetics with retinol, the changes take place in the top layers of the epidermis and after a few weeks the skin looks younger. This is because thanks to the light exfoliating and normalizing action of retinol, the damaged and cornified layer of the epidermis is reduced and the epidermis becomes more cohesive.
How Retinol works?
Subsequently, retinol affects the deeper layers of the skin – the number of fibroblasts increases, the production of collagen and elastin increases, the structure and functioning of the living layer of the skin improves, which enables the connection between the epidermis and the dermis. As a result, after a few months the skin becomes firmer and “thicker”, more elastic, fine wrinkles disappear, and deep and mimic are shallow.
